Art for Sale

Mitjili paints a story passed on to her by her father. The story is set in the hills around Haast’s Bluff, west of Alice Springs. The shapes in the painting represent the roots of a hardwood tree. From this sacred tree her father made weapons and implements. Mitjili is one of the western desert’s most accomplished painters and this image is by far her best known. She is represented in many collections in Australia and throughout the world.
