Art for Sale

Walala Tjapaltjarri, a Pintubi man, was among the last nomads to come in from the Gibson Desert. With his brothers and sisters he made permanent contact with European people as late as 1984.

This image, one that Walala paints repeatedly, tells of the way the Tingari ancestors as they moved across the land, camped at various places, and created feature of the landscape. Walala is a respected and very well collected contemporary painter who now spends the majority of his time in Alice Springs.
